Haven't used the Long Glaive yet but I think I'll like it for the flexibility of using as a lance one handed with a shield in the other. I've been using the Glaive like that and got lucky in a few battles charging far ahead of my line with my shield raised against projectiles hunting the enemy commander and disrupting their formation.

Typically you can get a few extra points in cut damage and swing speed by making the glaive head and shaft as short as possible.
