A virtual amiibo is detected by emuiibo based on two aspects: a amiibo.json and a amiibo.flag file must exist inside the virtual amiibo's folder mentioned above. If (for whatever reason) you would like to disable a virtual amiibo from being recognised by emuiibo, just remove the flag file, and create it again to enable it.

What was really strange for me yesterday is when I closed BOTW any analog movement or any button press automatically launched the game again. It was impossible to go anywhere on the home screen. I did this about 5 times before shutting down. I should have tried the Amiibo again as I was having the same problem.

I've tried my own physical amiibo figure, and it works. But when I try the app to emulate the amiibo, it doesn't spawn. I've even tried different amiibo wolf link bin files ... If you're far enough to enable the amiibo options, you will get the amiibo rune. Select the rune (runes are bombs, magnet, etc), use it to aim it somewhere, then place your amiibo on your right analog stick. You can redeem amiibo stuff once per day btw.
