My OB showed me the baby, yolk sac and everything but then told me she didnt see a heartbeat. Immediately I was devastated, thinking I had miscarried, but she told... I didn't know my dates, and thought I might be closer to 9 weeks. But it's also very possible I'm only 6+3 as of today (periods had been weird after getting off BC and I wasn't tracking them). No it's not conclusive. Your last period isn't always super accurate and most places won't do an ultrasound until 8-10 weeks because the heartbeat isn't always there that early. It can also be hard to visualize the fetal pole at earlier gestational ages, especially if you ovulated later. At 12 weeks you would not need a transvaginal exam. Baby is big enough to see, including heartbeat. As nerve wracking as it is, sonographers aren't supposed to say if there is anything wrong. Which is why she was probably silent. Hopefully they do another scan at your OB office so you have a definitive answer.
