Another way is to turn the engine until the intake is fully open (down) and adjust exhaust. Then turn until exhaust is fully open (down) and adjust intake. And when the plug is out it's much easier to turn. It's not that hard to find 1/4" down past TDC and you can adjust both valves without further turning.
